Retake Policy

Placement Retake Policy

For retake purposes, we define quarters to be:  The week after the end of one quarter through finals week of the next quarter.

Accuplacer

Retake once per quarter. Students are limited to 4 attempts per year. Here are free practice tests and learning resources to help students prepare to succeed on each of the ACCUPLACER tests.

Informed Math Placement (IMP)

No retakes are available for Informed Math Placement. If you have questions about your course placement, meet with an Entry Advisor. 

Informed Writing Placement (IWP)

No retakes are available for Informed Writing Placement. In the case that someone does want to change their placement, there is a writing assignment that will be given and reviewed by English faculty.

WAMAP

You can retake WAMAP twice per quarter. After taking the Informed Math Placement (IMP), if you believe you could be successful in a higher-level course, meet with an Entry Advisor to discuss your options. Your Entry Advisor may recommend that you take the WAMAP Math Test. Review your test results with an Entry Advisor after your test to learn what errors were made and what content to practice before you take your second test.

We strongly encourage you to prepare before you take a test to ensure that you receive the accurate course placement. You do not want to waste time and money in a course you do not need, or get into a course that is too difficult for you. We recommend taking this test once and using the information to go deeper into the content areas that need further review.

For the math placement test, you can choose to start with either Test 1 or Test 2. Some students may be eligible to begin with Test 3.  We suggest starting with the highest-level test that includes content you are already familiar with. Follow the directions below to begin practicing.

  1. Log into Google Chrome and type in http://www.wamap.org/ in the address bar
  2. If you have not take a test before: Register as a new student.
  3. If you have already taken the test, log in and proceed to #5
  4. Fill- out page completely using your Canvas account for username and password
  5. Enter: Course ID: 28786 Enrollment Key: 2022

Test 4: Trigonometry

  • Evaluating trigonometric expressions
  • Right triangle trigonometry
  • Properties of trigonometric functions (domain, amplitude, period,…) and their inverses
  • Simplifying trigonometric expressions using identities
  • Solving trigonometric equations
