Earn Your Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care
There are opportunities for specialization in areas such as neonatal and pediatric care, critical care, or pulmonary rehabilitation. Careers in this field offer good pay, great benefits, and flexible hours. Highline College’s Bachelor’s Degree program in Respiratory Care program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
In addition to solid foundational coursework, clinical experiences at sites such as Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Virginia Mason and Swedish Hospital allow students to kick-start their careers.
Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Respiratory Care
The Respiratory Care program is a Baccalaureate program. Students must complete the BAS in Respiratory Care to enter the field. Students first complete the AAS-T Respiratory Care (Pre) degree then transfer directly into the BAS Respiratory Care degree.

Accreditation
The Highline Respiratory Care Program, CoARC program number 200065, Bachelors of Applied Science degree in Des Moines Washington is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com).
CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented.

Become a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Upon successful completion of the BAS in Respiratory Care, students are eligible to sit for the Registered Respiratory Therapist Board Examination, administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Once students have graduated and completed their board exam, they are eligible to apply for licensure through the Washington State Department of Health. Applicants for RT licensure must disclose information regarding any legal convictions or conditions involving substance use that may impact the ability to practice safely per the Washing Administrative Code (WAC). Questions on Licensing requirements should be directed to the Washington State Department of Health.
