If the class you want is full, and you meet prerequisites, you can waitlist the class. If you haven’t been added to the class by the start of the quarter, it means there was no available space.

More About Waitlists

  • Automatically registered: If you join a waitlist, you will be automatically registered if space becomes available. You will be notified through ctcLink and your preferred email address.
  • Attend first day of class: When on the waitlist, you should plan to attend the first day of class and inform the instructor you are still interested in registering for the class.
  • Check your status first day of class: Students may be placed into classes the morning of the first day of the quarter.
  • Keep track of your status: Keep track of your waitlist status so you can make necessary changes to your schedule and pay for any added courses.
  • Waitlist is closed: The waitlist closes the night before the quarter begins.
  • Already enrolled: If you are already enrolled in another section of the same course, you cannot add yourself to the waitlist.

Sign up For a Waitlisted Class

If the class you are hoping to attend is full, follow these steps for how to add yourself to the waitlist for the class in ctcLink:

  1. Use the ctcLink Student Portal to swap and drop classes.
  2. If the class you want is full and you meet required prerequisites, you will be given the option to join the class waitlist.

Check Waitlist Status

You will be placed in the class as soon as an opening occurs.

  1. Use the ctcLink Student Portal to verify your waitlist status.
  2. Click ‘Show Waitlisted Classes’ on the ‘View My Classes’ tab of the ctcLink Student Portal.
    • Your waitlisted class will appear on the screen.
    • Click ‘Show Enrolled Classes’ to see a display of courses you are enrolled in.
  3. If you are not added to the class before the class starts, see the Over-Enrollment instructions.

Over-Enrollment on the First Day of Class

If a class is full, you may:

  1. Attend the class on the first day of the class.
  2. If your instructor agrees, forward your instructor’s email or signed Add/Drop Form to registration@highline.edu
  3. Students may be placed into classes the morning of the first day of the quarter. See 'Check Your Status' above for instructions.

Remove Yourself From a Waitlist

  • It is the student’s responsibility to remove themselves from waitlists as necessary and to resolve schedule conflicts within the college’s established add/drop time limits.
  • You can remove yourself from a waitlist by dropping yourself from the waitlisted section in the ctcLink Student Portal within the add/drop period.

Waitlist and Financial Aid

If you are receiving Financial Aid, your waitlisted class does not count toward your required credits until you are actually enrolled in the course. Financial Aid will only pay once you are enrolled in the correct minimum number of credits.
